[Crippling Shot].

Post again when he says running away is against the rules. I absolutely hate when people propose 1v1 contests with rules like that.

It is fantastically hard to lose. [[Throw dirt],[[lightning reflexes], [[distracting shot], and any type of damage ranging from 1 dps all the way to infinity.

Well then the ranger should be able to propose a similiar rule no chasing.

"No Running" is like saying "Let me win 'cause I'm shit at the game and want to kill with a vendetta".

I only really imagine the Ranger v. Ranger skirmishes to be anything skill-based though. 1v1's are actually surprisingly good for a laugh, too.

If the warrior is aware that you're coming at him/her with a cripshot it shouldn't be that hard for him/her to defend against it.

Degen
Cripple
Blockstance
Interupts

Its very easy to interupt attack skills of the standard warrior.

I believe that some people are painting too rosy a picture here. My main concern is that people who are not used to 1-on-1 will easily get nervous and perform poorly, especially if there is an unexpected aspect to the battle.

A seasoned cripshotter will have a field day with a warrior, yes. However, when the cripshotter is not seasoned but the warrior happens to be, and knows the opponent's profession in advance, there can be a nasty surprise in waiting. A W/A might teleport straight on your face, shout "You're All Alone!" and Iron Palm you for good measure. Inexperienced ranger = panic time.

Why kite the warrior... be true to ur soul and get up close and personal

[Ebon Dust Aura][Called Shot][Distracting Shot][Apply Poison]

That should do it... 1 on 1 there isnt enough condition removal bar going /rt with sight beyond sight that can take that. You also then ave 4 optional slots that can be anything really, IAS, Heal if ur scared, more degen etc.

Then lol at his face, and it gets around the "no kiting rule"... actually you could even put that in...

EDIT: at what tmakinen said, easy solution. If he teleports, wait half a second for ur d-shot. If he has assassin, watch for teleports etc. But yeah, ebon dust aura imo should be fool proof. Just change to cripshot if he goes W/Rt coz then he MAY have sight beyond sight which will screw you up.

I would tend to say that this is a more 'beginner friendly' option, just remember to wield an Ebon Recurve. I would also take Pin Down just in case, and maybe even Shield of Force if you're dipping into Earth Prayers anyway.

go beastmaster with throw dirt, try to find my build but its not here anymore.

[heal as one] [throw dirt] [distracting shot] [savage shot] [lightning reflexes] [charm animal] [poisonous bite] [disrupting lunge]

thats if you use a bow

[heal as one] [throw dirt] [Disrupting Throw] [Barbed Spear] [lightning reflexes] [charm animal] [poisonous bite] [disrupting lunge]

thats if you use paragon secondary

if you don't like the long recharge time of disrupting lunge, can always change it to [Feral Lunge] or [Bestial Pounce] both recharge faster and uses only 5 energy. maybe not bestial pounce in your case, since you are facing a warrior. but this build has been tested many times in AB to be able to defeat warrior 1 vs 1 sometime even 1 vs 3 actually 2 if you count the pet, and the flaw of this build is that it does not have high damage, it kill slow, but pride itself on being able to stay alive long enough to wear out your foe.

but then thats my pvp character with 640 health and lots of energy and no superior runes and remember to pull up your pet window, so you know when your pet has use the disrupting lunge.

This is what I used in the Norn fighting tournament to beat M.Bison, sans PvE skills:
[crippling shot] Keeps him away
[distracting shot][savage shot] Interrupt if he tries to heal or do something else
[apply poison] Keep this up for a slow kill
[sloth hunter's shot] Attack when energy and distance permits
[dodge] Keep kiting
[troll unguent][antidote signet] / [healing breeze][mending touch] If you get hit with something

my point of view may be wrong here. but, if i was a warrior challenging a ranger to 1v1, i would come prepared for one of the famous ranger degen, condition, and movement control builds, and counter it. like the guy that brought up the w/a build. i'd recommend conjuring up a unique build that you're comfortable playing and use it. maybe have a little utility to react to the probable counterbuild while keeping the famous ranger template of movement control and damage over time. besides, build are just builds, strategy wins fights.

im surprised no one said war yet...

it can really go either way

sure, teh gvg meta crip ranger would pwn teh gvg meta shock axe war...
but thats cuz crip ranger in gvg was -built- to be good in 1v1 confrontations

the war can simply run a 1v1 build instead...

tbh, it can go either way

war has 2 slots for defensive stances in place of [frenzy]/[rush]
sure...[crippling shot] is unblockable
but teh war will prolly expect poison anyways, and bring condition removal
sure...[mending touch] is 3/4s cast...
but without [magebane], teh war will prolly block ur interrupts

3s [troll unguent] is nuff time for a war to interupt and punish it
and over time...the natural high dps of a war will outbest the rangers dps

the ranger's dps will mostly come from [apply poison]
but good luk wit maintaining that while spamming [crippling shot] on recharge

now im only being biased towards wars
cuz everyone thinks a ranger would win hands down

i dun think a war would pwn a ranger everytime
but it wont go teh other way around either

like another person said, its rock-paper-scissors pretty much

If the Warriors loses IMS in favour of block stances, then the Warrior has no chance of catching up to Natural Stride. In addition to this, the Ranger could simply kite and hit Hunter's Shot while kiting to have practically no stall time on an attack, and creating additional bleeding at the same time.

if teh ranger spends more time runnin then attackin
there will be no dmg...
and therefore draw

and thats a prob wit 1vs1...
any serious 1v1 will end in draw 9 times out of 10

which is y it -cant- be taken seriously
